These are very handy if you are looking for a long lost army buddy or something. Preposterous as it seems, a friend of mine from high school who I haven't talked to since graduation actually found me through one of these things. I think all of these have a little service agreement which basically says the companies won't sell the list of email addresses to advertisers, so it's pretty safe. Even if you aren't looking for someone, stop by these places and register, because someone might be looking for you.

A little on the slow side but not a bad utility
Fast, easy to use, and free, WhoWhere? is a comprehensive White Pages service for locating people and organizations on the Net. WhoWhere? intuitively handles misspelled or incomplete names, and it lets you search by initials.
Cool little tool. Fast and easy and FREE. Also interesting because you don't necessarily have to enter yourself. Odds are, if you've ever posted something on usenet, you're in this database.
Nice utility, considering the lack of competition. Sign up now!
